SQA [SELECT] Customised Award in Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installations (324)
Overview:
This one-day SQA approved course for qualified electricians aims to provide expert guidance to learners wishing to gain knowledge and understanding on Electric Vehicle charging equipment installations.
This award has been SCQF credit rated by the SQA, it has been accredited to SCQF Level 7.
Aim:
By the end of this one-day course learners will understand and be able to design and install domestic, commercial and industrial electrical vehicle charging installations.
Content:

Understand the key requirements relating to electric
vehicle charging equipment.
·
Identify various modes and features of electric vehicle
charging equipment.
·
Gain the skills for designing, installing electric
vehicle charging circuits.
·
Gain knowledge for the requirements for inspection,
testing, commissioning, maintenance and handover of electric vehicle charging equipment and
circuits.
·
Understand the use of vehicles as electrical energy
storage systems as part of prosumer’s installations.
Pre-Course Requirements:
The course is
designed for qualified electricians with a current BS 7671 qualification and an
expectation of meeting the following criteria:
• Minimum age 18 years old (mandatory)
• Must be able to demonstrate the following competencies:
• Be able to correctly install and terminate: pvc/pvc cable (twin and earth)
• Steel Wire armoured cable (swa)
• Be able to carry out an initial verification (inspection & testing) on an electrical installation and complete the necessary paperwork
What will you need to bring to the course:
Delegates must have a copy of the following:
• IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (5th Edition) and spend a minimum of 8 hours pre-study time going through this prior to the day course.
• Requirements for Electrical Installations (18th Edition Wiring Regulations) BS 7671:2018+A2:2022 (Brown Book)
