SJIB asks operatives to contact them via website

The Scottish Joint Industry Board (SJIB) is asking operatives with general queries to contact it via its website due to the large volume of phone calls currently being received.

The body has also requested “courtesy and respect” as it continues to process an equally large volume of SJIB (ECS) Grade Card applications and ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessments.

Fiona Cornwall, Employment Affairs Operations Manager, said: “Over the past few months, we’ve had to continually modify our processes to help deliver peoples’ expectations.

“We are a small team and a significant proportion of our time is taken up responding to queries, which impacts on our ability to process applications and requests.

“I would urge operatives who have a query to email us using the Contact Us Form on the SJIB website. It’s easy to use – simply enter your contact details, click on enquiry type and choose from the drop-down list.

“Your email will be sent directly to the designated SJIB administrator’s mailbox who will respond in a timely manner.”

Fiona said the SJIB will also continue to provide regular updates on the its Home Page – and asked in return for operatives to be patient with the team.

She added: “Over the last few months, we have seen a significant increase in the number of calls and emails, and we ask for your patience – card applications and assessment requests are being processed as quickly as we can do them

“Please be assured that if you have sent in an application for an SJIB (ECS) Grade Card or an ECS Health, Safety and Environmental Assessment we will receive and process it. If you have sent an email we will respond, so please don’t email again.

“One final note – we are all trying to do our best in unprecedented times, and we appreciate that your query is important.  However, I would ask that when you are communicating with the SJIB team, you do so with courtesy and respect and please be kind.”
