Member questions answered at Digital Drop-Ins

Our Membership team hosted its second Digital Drop-In session this week, giving Members the chance to put questions about a wide range of issues to a panel of SELECT experts.

In the latest webinar on Friday 15 May, staff answered a range of queries on technical, training and employment issues, with the ongoing impact of Coronavirus featuring high on the agenda.

SELECT staff fielding questions were Technical Adviser Neil Sim, Employment Affairs Adviser Nicola Jengaenga, Training Manager Jenny Cryans and Membership Manager Sandra Bennett.

Members also had chance to discuss contract affairs with industry specialist Len Bunton, who, along with SELECT, is also a key member of the Construction Industry Coronavirus (CICV) Forum.

Among the topics for discussion was preparations for getting back to work and advice on interacting with customers and choosing appropriate PPE.

Other Members asked about furloughing and the Electrotechnical Certification Scheme, with Nicola Jengaenga also giving a short presentation about recent changes to employment law. Questions and answers will soon be available online.

Iain Mason, Director of Membership and Communications, said: “With the landscape changing every day, and physical drop-in sessions no longer possible, we decided to host these digital webinars to help keep Members in the loop and give them a chance to ask questions.

“Although it’s still early days, feedback has been encouraging and Members say they value the answers we’ve been able to provide.”

The Digital Drop-In sessions follow similar recent webinars for users of SELECTcerts, who have also been able to ask questions and receive hints and tips.

Iain added: “Over the next weeks we hope to branch out and feature more specialist topics, such as legal matters. We are also exploring options to continue the sessions once lockdown has been relaxed, to save Members having to travel long distances for updates and advice.”

The next Digital Drop-In for Members will be held on Friday 22 May from 10am to 12pm. Once again, the live webinar will see SELECT staff offer advice on technical, employment, training and membership issues.
